Financial Assistance & Support

You may qualify for LEAP if:

• You're behind on your electricity bill and facing possible disconnection.
• Your household income falls within the Ontario Energy Board's income eligibility guidelines.
• The grant does not exceed the amount you owe on your account.

Eligibility is based on:

• Your after-tax household income
• The number of people living in your home

For example, a home with four people and an annual after-tax income of $37,000 would be eligible for a LEAP Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) grant. This chart shows if you are eligible.

Please note: Amounts shown are after tax. Income levels are set by the Ontario Energy Board, based on statistics from Statistics Canada.

Eligible customers may receive:

• Up to $650 toward an overdue electricity bill.
• Up to $780 if your home uses electric heating.

LEAP is intended as one-time emergency financial assistance to help avoid service disconnection.

The grant amount cannot exceed the balance owing on your account.

Applications are completed through your local intake agency.
