The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally affected our lives and changed the way we interact with each other. At InnPower, one of our core values has and always will be to foster a safe, supportive, family-oriented culture in our company and in our communities. We continuously strive to create a warm, local, hometown experience with increasing value for our customers and recognize that this is more important now than ever.
In order to support our customers through this difficult and stressful time, InnPower has:
- Increased one-on-one support for customers to better manage paying their electricity bill.
- Relaxed its disconnection practices, while staying in line with Provincial requirements.
- Continued to refrain from collecting residential security deposits.
In addition, InnPower continues to offer a variety of financial assistance programs to help our customers manage and pay their electricity bill including the Arrears Payment Agreement (APA), Equal Payment/Budget Plans (EPP), Energy Affordability Program (EAP), Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) and the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP). Apart from working through the challenges of the pandemic, our staff continue working diligently to serve our growing communities as it has for over 100 years. Today, InnPower maintains a service territory of 292 square kilometers (the same size as Mississauga), over 10,000 poles, close to 1,000 kilometers of power lines and 10 distribution stations. Our knowledgeable, hardworking front line staff continue to safely construct and maintain our power system, weathering any storm, to keep the lights on.
The Ontario energy sector is changing fast and we are changing with it. As one of the fastest growing electrical utilities in Ontario, InnPower has evolved in how we work with developers, how we listen to community needs and how we prioritize our spending to maximize economic growth of our communities. Over the past five years, we have welcomed close to 4,000 new customers and we continue to invest significantly in new electricity infrastructure in our primarily rural and growing urban communities to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
Over the next year, InnPower will be undertaking a new strategic plan and cost of service. We plan to focus heavily on providing even greater value to our customers with improved cost-efficiencies¸ reliability, satisfaction and a strong community leadership & presence through creative and innovative solutions.
