Engineering Services
New Service Request- Residential
- Applications may be submitted for individual lot residential or commercial project types requiring a new service. If the property already has a service, please see the Service upgrade application.
- Requests should be submitted a minimum of four (4) weeks in advance of your anticipated project start date.
- An InnPower Representative will contact you within five (5) to ten (10) business days from the date the form was submitted to discuss your request.
- Once the request is reviewed, an InnPower Representative will reach out to request a site visit to ensure the scope of work is clearly understood by all parties.
- Once the site visit is complete, an estimate or Offer to Connect will be provided by email including a detailed design and Terms & Conditions of the work to be performed
- Depending on the work required, additional time may be needed for ordering new equipment and coordinating with other utilities. An example of this is a new transformer can take up to 24 weeks lead time upon payment.
- Payment based on the Offer to Connect is required to initiate material ordering and job planning.
- Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment or service request.
- Temporary services are only applicable in certain situations. Details will be provided in the Offer to Connect.
Service Upgrades – Residential
- Applications may be submitted for both residential and commercial type projects. Service upgrade application types include: Panel Change (Fuse to Breaker, Like for Like, 60 amp to 100 amp), Service Size Upgrades (100 amp to 200 or 400 amp), Generator Installation, Generlink Installation, Service Type Change (Overhead to Underground service), Meterbase Relocation, Meterbase Repair, Vegetation Management around Secondary Lines, Non-electrical Work (Siding, Roofing, etc) and Sentinal Lights.

Subdivision Application
- These applications may be submitted for commercial/industrial, institutional or residential development project types.
- Requests should be submitted seven (7) months in advance of your project start date at minimum.
- Once we’ve had a chance to review the request, we will reach out to discuss capacity and expansion requirements as necessary. InnPower will be sending a detailed form for the developer to complete at this stage.
- Upon preliminary approval of the application, an estimate will be provided by email to cover costs associated with drawing reviews and site visits.
- InnPower will send over the latest version of our 'Underground Expansion' document which outlines all components of the process and details.
Service Cancellation/Service Removal
- Service Cancellation applications are used to permanently disconnect the property from the electrical distribution system.
- Requests should be submitted a minimum of four (4) weeks in advance of your anticipated project start date.
- An InnPower Representative will contact you within five (5) to ten (10) business days from the date the form was submitted to discuss your request.
- Once the request is reviewed, an InnPower Representative will reach out to request a site visit to ensure the scope of work is clearly understood by all parties.
- Once the site visit is complete, an estimate or Offer to Connect will be provided by email including a detailed design and Terms & Conditions of the work to be performed

Joint Use Projects
- These applications may be submitted for joint use project types including communications, streetlights, signage and other connections to InnPower assets.
- Requests should be submitted seven (7) months in advance of your project start date at minimum.
- An InnPower Representative will contact you within five (5) to ten (10) business days from the date the form was submitted to discuss your request.
- Once the request is reviewed, an InnPower Representative will reach out to discuss the scope of work. InnPower will be sending a detailed form to the applicant to complete at this stage.
- InnPower will send over the latest version of our 'Joint-Use Application' document which outlines all components of the process and details.

Planning to Dig?
There is buried infrastructure all over Ontario. You must contact Ontario One Call to get buried cables, pipes, and wires located so you can dig safely.
Ontario One Call is a public safety administrative authority and the communication link between those wanting to dig and buried infrastructure owners who are required to provide locates.
Damaging underground infrastructure is dangerous. Hitting wires, pipes or cables can cause serious injuries and carry hefty financial consequences.
Remember, if you are planning to dig on your property, you must contact Ontario One Call a minimum of 5 days before you dig into a project of any size. It's free, it's easy, it's the law.

Electrical Inspection
If you have work performed on your electrical service by an electrician (i.e. upgrades, repairs, etc.), the completed work must be inspected by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA). For more information, visit the ESA's website.
