Voltage Reduction Test

In an effort to test the resiliency of our electrical grid, the IESO will be performing a mandatory voltage reduction test on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and will be conducted as follows:

  • 3% voltage reduction: 09:00 - 10:00 EST
  • 5% voltage reduction: 13:00 - 14:00 EST

Voltage reductions are a part of routine system testing and have minimal or no noticeable impact on the general public. There is a possibility of a slight dimming of the lights for some customers but it’s important to note that these reductions are well within industry standards for electrical equipment used by residential, commercial and industrial customers.
