Planting Near Distribution Lines: A Guide from InnPower Corporation

At InnPower, we care about your safety and the beauty of your landscape! Follow these tips to help you plant safely near distribution lines:

Know Your Utility Lines

Understand the difference between distribution and transmission lines and underground power lines. Call InnPower before digging to mark underground utilities.

Plan Before You Plant

Choose the right tree species for your area. Small trees (up to 3 meters height) can be within 5 meters of the distribution lines. Medium trees (3-8 meters height) should be planted 5- 8 meters away, and large trees (8-24.4 meters height) should be at least 8 meters away from the distribution lines.

Maintain Your Trees

Regular pruning is essential to prevent branches from touching power lines.

Create Defensible Space

Especially in high fire-threat areas, maintain a safe distance between trees and power lines. Opt for fire-resistant plants with high moisture content.

Consider Padmount Transformers

Landscape carefully around padmount transformers to ensure accessibility and safety.

Energy Efficiency

Position trees to provide shade in summer and windbreaks in winter to help reduce energy costs.

By following these guidelines, you can enjoy a beautiful and safe landscape while ensuring reliable power service.

    Happy planting! 🌿
