Unplanned Outage - Windstorm

Dec 11, 2021
2:30 pm
On Saturday, December 11th at approximately 2:30 p.m., heavy rains and high winds of approx. 100km/hr started throughout our service territory, causing several power outages. InnPower crews were dispatched and worked around the clock throughout the weekend dealing with multiple trees on lines, lines down, broken overhead service conductors, broken poles, etc. At the peak, over 3,000 customers were without power across InnPower’s service territory. Crews were able to restore power for most customers within the first four hours. Following that, crews addressed the long list of smaller scale outages while managing ongoing fires, emergency calls, and live wire reports. Throughout the weekend, InnPower’s priority remained keeping customers and crews safe. On Sunday, InnPower reached out for mutual aid assistance and Orangeville Hydro sent a crew to assist. All customers were restored by 4:30 a.m. on Monday, December 13th.

InnPower would like to extend a big thank you to Customer Service and Operations teams, IPC Line Crews, K-Line Crews, Weller Tree Service and Orangeville Hydro for working so hard to safely restore hydro to our community. InnPower would also like to give a huge shout out and thank you to our customers, for remaining so understanding and patient while our teams worked tirelessly to safely restore power in treacherous conditions.

Below are some images from the windstorm.
