Celebrate Canada Day the Conscious Way

Canada Day is here! Consider giving back to our country this year and find ways to celebrate the environmentally conscious way.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

If you are hosting a dinner party this weekend, be sure to reduce single use waste and opt for reusable or biodegradable products. This will keep the areas extra clean and ensure that there is less waste by the end of the night.

Bring Out the BBQ

Avoid using the oven and other heat excreting appliances. Not only will these use excess energy, but they also generate excess heat inside your home and can make your AC work harder. Instead, take advantage of the weather and get outside! Use the grill/barbeque for cooking this Canada Day.

Pick Up Your Garbage

When hosting any outdoor parties this weekend, be sure to provide places to dispose of waste and recycle bins. Remind your guests to pick up their garbage and make sure recycling is going into the right place.

Enjoy the Outdoors

Canada Day is a time to celebrate the place we live. Get outside this weekend and enjoy the natural light, heat and scenery of the place we call home. Not only does this eliminate your energy usage indoors, but it also allows for activities you may be limited to inside. Have a bonfire, water balloon fight, go swimming, play lawn games, etc. The options are endless!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Canada Day long weekend!
